Milka visited a new groomer this past weekend. What do you think? The before and after shots are on the groomer’s website. The pics are also below. Let me know what you think. Should we stick with this new groomer (Spa Dog) or go back to the original one (Pawsh)?
I think it’s great because it’s so short, so he won’t be too hot in the warmer temperatures but – he barely looks like himself anymore! He kind of looks like a chihuahua!

At Vancouver Coastal Health, we have a blog that our senior executive leaders use to communicate with staff across the organization. (I named it actually!) One of my bosses, Clay Adams, is an active writer for the blog, often authoring the most widely read and most commented on posts. One of my favorites was the one about the overuse of reply all.
Clay wrote a blog post today on the merits on allowing dogs in the workplace. The post has caused a flurry of varying opinions as comments. Clay included a mention of Milka in the blog!
Check it out. http://bit.ly/IVkssq
Don’t forget to vote in the poll. It takes 2 seconds (no registration etc).
I shamelessly entered Milka in a contest on Facebook today. I think we win a year’s worth of Earth Rated biodegradable and compostable poo bags if get the most votes. So please take 2 minutes and vote for your favorite little Sunshine! No need to register – you just have to have a Facebook account.

Took Milka to the island for the long weekend. Had a perfect weekend really. Good company, gorgeous weather, great home cooked meals. Thanks mom! And Gill!
Here’s a pic of Milka near my mom’s Easter tree, a tradition we picked up when we lived in Germany. Photo courtesy of Paola Serrao.
The only negative part of the trip was on the ferry. Both there and back, there were aggressive dogs in the dog room on the boats. Their owners said they were aggressive and unpredictable, yet didn’t have muzzles on their dogs. Not cool.

I came across a San Francisco company that makes collars for dogs made of vintage ties. They are so cute! Which one do you think I should get for Milka?(will have to be size small)

I had Milka’s DNA tested to see exactly what kind of dog Milka is (other than super sweet and super cute!). Turns out that Milka is a level 1 poodle, according to DNA My Dog. This means that Milka is 75% or more a poodle. Most mixed breed dogs will not be a level 1 unless one or both parents are purebred.
Needless to say this was a little anti climactic. I thought there was some kind of terrier, or some other breed, in him, which is especially evident in his face.
There are a few explanations though:
1) There were breeds present that are not included in the company’s database.
2) If there is a low amount of a particular breed, it may not be detected.
3) Milka is a purebred.
So there you have it. For a more detailed explanation of testing, go to www.dnamydog.com.
Milka and this blog are going to be featured on the home page of http://www.dogtipper.com/ Friday, March 2! Go check us out!

This month, I started bringing Milka to work with me (at Vancouver Coastal Health) for a few days a week. He loves it and so do I! He especially likes it when coworkers such as (Auntie!) Denise & Thomas (see the last photo – he brought broccoli!) come to visit him.
I do feel incredibly lucky to be able to bring him to work. A big thank you to my bosses Clay and Laurie for permitting this.

Environment Canada issued a wind warning today for the BC south coast, with winds to up to 90 km/h… so we went to the beach! Milka was a champ and never complained (ie wanted to be held etc).
